Mabel is an original shepherd’s hut, lovingly made into a cosy place for two. Think a comfy bed, thoughtful little touches, and your own gated garden looking out towards fields and hills.

There’s a private kitchen and modern bathroom in the adjacent building, a large walk-in shower, and even a cinema room for two. Because a night in should feel like a treat, too.

Jo and Nigel are your hosts, with a warm welcome and local walking routes at the ready.

Before you pack

A few things
worth knowing.

Can we bring our dogs?

Yes. Up to two small or medium-sized dogs are welcome at no extra cost, as space inside is cosy. Mabel has her own private, gated garden.

Where are the kitchen and bathroom?

They’re in a private building adjacent to the hut, rather than inside Mabel herself. You’ll have your own kitchen and a modern bathroom with a large walk-in shower.

Is Mabel tucked away in the countryside?

You’ll have views across fields and hills, and your own garden. Mabel is also close to the A19, so you may hear passing traffic. It makes a handy base for exploring the area, but it isn’t a remote, silent retreat.

How does booking work?

Select your dates on the booking page and send a provisional request. Jo and Nigel will check availability, confirm the details and arrange a deposit. A request is not a confirmed booking.

What are the current prices?

Please ask Jo and Nigel to confirm the rate for your dates when making an enquiry. We don’t display older prices as current rates.
